Discover Turkey's hidden secrets at "Villa
Julia"
A gentle sea breeze, mingled with the scent of garden flowers
drifts through your open door. You wake to the sound of waves lapping.
You step out onto your balcony, toes warmed by the early morning sun.
To your left eagles soar over sun drenched mountains. To your
right a kingfisher is darting from rock to rock. And a few strides
in front of you is an empty stretch of sand, before the most enticing azure
sea. You wonder what to do today. Sail to a deserted island for
a picnic? Explore the countryside for ancient ruins? Swim? Sunbathe?
or just be very busy doing nothing in your personal paradise?
"Villa Julia" has a homely atmosphere and comfortable
guest rooms sleeping up to 14. All rooms have air-conditioning and en-suite
facilities, and most have either a balcony or terrace with stunning sea views.
Theres a cosy sitting room opening onto the terrace with its sofa and
easy chairs for a siesta in the shade, tables and chairs for dining under
the stars, and an extensive library of paperbacks. Make the most of the Mediterranean sun
on
the sunbeds, either on the gently sloping beach and in the bougainvillea filled garden.
Chill off with a dip in the swimming pool or the sea, dive from the private jetty, or lounge in
the shade of trees in the garden.
A short stroll along the beach is a fishing quay with restaurant
and a small mini-market. Then beyond the quay is a beautiful coastal walk
through the lost valley - an archaeologically protected area
- to the neighbouring hamlet of Saranda with more restaurants.
"Villa Julia" nestles on the edge of Sögüt Köyü, a
rural seaside village, which is set at the head of a spectacular bay and
flanked by the mountains of the Loryma peninsula, an important area in ancient
times and some of the most wild and unspoilt countryside on the south west
coast of Turkey. The local people are among the most welcoming in Turkey,
they are mainly self-sufficient, making a living from agriculture and fishing.
